Professor, I have really been trying so hard to do well in your class. My parents would absolutely kill me if they knew I was failing. I do my homework, I study for tests, it’s not like I am not trying.

Could you possibly give me some extra-credit to bring my grade up?  You have something in mind? Please, I will do absolutely anything.
